The pkgstore Marketplace Is Generally Available

The pkgstore marketplace is leaving beta and is now generally available for publishers who want to sell commercial .NET packages through NuGet.

The idea behind pkgstore has stayed simple: commercial .NET packages should work with the tools developers already use. Publishers should be able to sell subscriptions without building a billing system, credential service, and private package infrastructure from scratch. Buyers should be able to restore packages with the standard .NET and NuGet tooling.

What is available today

The generally available marketplace workflow includes:

  • Public listings for commercial NuGet packages and .NET developer tools.
  • Monthly and yearly Stripe subscription plans.
  • Individual and team plans with seat management.
  • Optional free trials with card collection.
  • Private NuGet feeds with standard push and restore commands.
  • Generated restore credentials tied to subscription access.
  • Automatic access changes when a subscription is trialing, active, past due, cancelled, or suspended.
  • Publisher-managed free access and customer credentials.

Transparent marketplace pricing

Starting August 6, 2026, pkgstore charges a 7% commission on Marketplace Feed subscription payments. There are no setup or monthly platform fees.

Stripe processing fees apply separately and are paid by the publisher. Those fees vary by connected-account country, payment method, card origin, currency conversion, and other transaction details. Publishers can review the rates that apply to them on Stripe's pricing page.

Keeping the two fees separate matters: pkgstore's rate is 7%. Stripe's processing cost is not part of the pkgstore commission.

Thank you to the beta publishers

The beta period helped shape the product around real package publishing and access-control workflows. It led to clearer feed management, pricing plans, trial support, team access, better documentation, and more reliable subscription handling.

General availability is not the end of that feedback loop. I will keep improving pkgstore around the needs of .NET publishers and the teams that depend on their packages.
